Approaching Ludicrous Speed

Last weekend I headed north with the Red Haired Girl, my buddy Feedbags and his son Nic. The idea was to do one last weekend of snowmobiling. Nic's sled was in the shop for repair. His father not wanting to leave the boy behind borrowed a sled for the weekend so Nic could ride.

The sled was a 2003 (or so) Yamaha RX1. This has the nice fast smooth quiet 150hp 4 stroke engine in it. No oil no stink. However popping the hood on this thing reveled that the machine was not quite stock. It has a Simons CPR turbo kit in it. All I can say is "Holy Crap" I took this machine for a run across an open lake. At 80mph I punched it, the track spun, then the studs hooked up and pulled the skis off the ice. The fastest I saw was 109. I ran out of stones long before it ran out of speed. Feedbags on a lake run found 129mph. Says it still had more to go. Yikes.
